Week 1 - Blog

Well, here we are again - I didn't realise there was more to learn - I thought I'd learnt it all, but obviously not!! I'm looking forward to using this training, it sounds like there are some aspects of it that I'll be able to use in my current position eg: converting a document to PDF - good for my newsletters - so no one can 'tamper' with them....

The social networking possibilities are, well it seems to me, endless. After looking at ZohoWriter and seeing that it's a whole new forum for creating slides, documents, movies...you name it. I had a go at creating a slide - much like PowerPoint - of all the things that are precious to me..ohhh, I hear you say!!
ZohoWriter is also another way of interacting with other people and I wish I had the time to use it, but I think I'll stick to my Facebook and Google accounts, but it's been an interesting exercise.

Week 6

I've had a good look at Delicious - read some good blogs about people's travel experiences and could almost taste some recipes! Recently I had a go at 'skyping' a friend which was amazing. I tried adding a Google gadget to my blog but like the unattractive travel agent on Little Britain says: "The computer says...no" so that was disappointing. At least I can say I tried!

Wiki'd out!

Wiki's are all the rage and great to see so much information out there waiting to be looked at, added to, edited etc etc. A really positive aspect is that you don't have to be an 'IT' expert to contribute to a Wiki, it's available to and for the 'ordinary' person like myself! I did learn that Wiki is a Hawaiian phrase - pity we can't claim it as a Maori one - sounds like it belongs to us! Lets claim it!

Flicking around

After having a good look around Flickr at all the awesome images - there are so many to choose from - I decided to upload this one of some Irish dancers. I used the Manukaulearn username and password to gain access to Flickr and that was easy enough. I like it when things work! I looked at tags and joined a group. What did I learn? You can upload photos from your camera or phone onto Flickr and edit them etc. Quite a neat tool and one I may use in the future.

Week four - but wait there's more...

I've joined Librarything - joined up to a couple of lists but am yet to add my books to a list - hopefully I'll find some time to do that this week.

Week three

http://www.generatorland.com/generators/nun_generator_gl.php#

Well that was interesting - I made my way through the generator blog and tried a few on the way. Now I am insulted - the cartoon character I am most like is Homer Simpson (the character I most dislike), my lifelong partner looked like Meatloaf, and the sport I would suit most is golf - wrong, all wrong. But, being the good Catholic girl I am (not), I decided to find out my Nun's name - Sister Eloise Craprag. Now, when I was at school - St Anne's in Manurewa, we had some Nun's who would have fitted that description... except they looked meaner than Sister Eloise... so, if you want to find out your Nun's name, have a go and let me know what yours is. The link is above - that's heaven's above!!
